Food chain upheaval: Market Basket opening soon

CONWAY — As the Tom Petty song goes, “The waiting is the hardest part” — and that’s been especially true for local fans of the yet-to-open Market Basket at Settlers Streetside in North Conway.

Once expected to be ringing up sales by June, an opening date has still not been announced — but store manager Andrew Heggarty on an Aug. 18 tour of the 70,000-square-foot, brand-spanking new store with his assistant manager, Jarrod Archambault, said when asked the question on everyone’s mind, “Soon — this fall. Even we don’t know the exact date yet. But we’ll let everyone know.”
