After Ingesting A Hook, Em The Three

Dec 02, 2023

By Sam Vassallo

A three-legged turtle amicably named Em will be released into Maltese waters after months of rehab.

Nature Trust Malta said that the small turtle had ingested a hook that got stuck in the intestines and had a badly entangled front flipper.

Due to the cuts the flipper sustained by the entangled debris, infections took over and unfortunately, the flipper had to be amputated.

However, after months of medication, treatment, therapy and training their our rehab volunteers, Em is now ready to return to the seas.

The environmental group is asking the public to donate funds so that they can monitor Em’s progress during the first few months. They require €5000 to purchase a tracker.

Donations for any CRS support can be sent by bank transfer or Revolut transfer on our Wildlife IBAN MT18 VALL 2201 3000 0000 4002 353 8289 , Swift code VALLMTMT.
